Grizzly Monroe

I drew this today with pen and pencil crayons. This is the first time in I don't know how many years that I have used pencil crayons. I will colour this tomorrow and add a little more.  If anyone can think of a title for this let me know.  I think the final version will have some honey bees added.

Wahoo and Umbrella Underwater Nuclear Tests

Wahoo and Umbrella were both underwater nuclear test conducted in the waters off Enewetak Atoll in the Pacific Ocean in May and June of 1958.  Wahoo was a deepwater test at 3200 ft. and Umbrella was a shallow water test at 150 ft.  This is a declassified video which is narrated by a cameraman, but it is not specified which test is occurring in this video.

"Beneath this concrete dome (referred to as the Cactus Dome) on Runit Island, part of Enewetak Atoll between 1977 and 1980 at a cost of about $239 million, lie 111 000 cubic yards of radioactive soil and debris from Bikini and Rongelap Atolls. The dome covers the 30-foot deep, 350-foot wide crater created by the May 5, 1958, Cactus test." -Brooklyn Institute

The Enewetak Atoll had been inhabited by humans for more then 2000 years, but after WWII the Americans gained control of the series of Islands from the Japanese and in the early 1950's forced the inhabitants off the islands while conducting 43 nuclear tests within the next decade.  In the early 1980's the inhabitants were aloud to return and in 1986 they received their independence.  In 2000, the Marshall Islands Claims Tribunal awarded in excess of $340 million to the people of Enewetak for loss of use, hardship, medical Difficulties and further nuclear cleanup.

Bill Murray

I was working on this one the other day and suddenly didn't like where is was going so I let it sit for a few days and tonight worked on it a bit longer when photoshop crashed. It a sign to give up on this one and work on something else. This is not the last for Bill Murray though, I will try again on something new in the next couple weeks.  I will probably start something new instead of spit-shining this turd, because I have learned if its not going the right way it is a waste of time, most of the time to spend hours and hours more just to be left with something just as bad or worse.

NEW DEFTONES: Leathers

Today the Deftones released a song from their 7th album Koi No Yokan called Leathers.  This will not serve as the first single from the album but merely as a preview track.  On October 9th the first single Tempest will be released and the album will be released November 13th.  Leathers has every element of a great Deftones song and what still sets them apart from every other metal band.  It is super aggressive and still has fragile, chillingly beautiful moments.  There is no other band like this and they are still way ahead of every other band, showing no signs of becoming boring, old or used up after such a long career of so many highlights.  While recording this album they also tracked a series of covers which are rumored to be three Elvis Presley songs and an Earth, Wind and Fire song which they will probably release on a bonus disk.  They are also one of the best cover bands, releasing many covers that sound like they wrote them and fit perfectly into their cataloge (some highlights of which I have included underneath the tracklist for Koi No Yokan).  Enjoy.

New Apple iPhone Patent

There has been talk and pressure to introduce this patent so that video recordings cannot be made inside Government buildings or at events that politicians want video out of the public domain.  We continue to see Government to keep their dealings and secrets secret, while consequently looking for new ways to spy and monitor you by breaking down constitutional laws by implementing new laws, unjust laws.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Trailer

This trailer is a lot better then the first one.  It appears that this movie will be a little brighter and a more lighthearted affair then the Lord of the Rings movies, as it should be.  A few weeks ago the studio announced that instead of two movies that this will now be a trilogy, one each Christmas for the next  two years and then the conclusion six months later, in the middle of summer.  Currently I am reading this book, after many failed attempts, again and I am really looking forward to seeing this on the big screen (especially the last chapter).

Curiosity's Descent onto Mars

HD video of Curiosity descending down onto Mars and landing on the red planet surface.  The first thing you see is the heatshield, use to protect the rover from burning up on entry, dropping.  Once it lands it looks at the landscape and then uses the camera to inspect itself for any damage.

Joe Madureira Sketchbook

Starting as an intern at Marvel comics at age 16, while still in high school.  By the time he was 20 he was the regular artist on Uncanny X-Men, one of Marvels biggest titles during the height of the publishers popularity during the mid 90's.  One of the first American comic artists to combine tradition comic book illustration with Japanese style manga, his work has been in high demand ever since, both in comic books and in video game design.  I love his work but decided to only do a gallery of his pencil sketches because no one sketches with the clarity and bold line work like him. He can draw kinetic action, dynamic group splash-pages, beautiful women, hideous monsters, armour and mechanics, animals, and superheroes.  Since I first saw his work in Battle Chasers he has been one of my favorite comic artists.  If you like his work search out more on google because he does not have a person website or blog.
