Dolphins Using a Pufferfish as a Narcotic

It is said that dolphin, like humans, are only species to have sex for pleasure.  It looks like that is not the only thing as the BBC was able to record footage of a pod of dolphins using the toxin from a pufferfish as a narcotic and enjoying an altered state.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer

The new nearly 4 minute trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  The last one, the reboot without Tobey Maguire was alright, as huge a plus it didn't have Maguire or Kirsten Dunst.  It was pretty boring just retelling the origin story and featuring a villain that was unimpressive and computer generated.  The casing was fantastic though and the actors all were perfectly cast and did admirable jobs capturing the characters of their comic counterparts.  With the origin story out of the way and a story that will not rehash what we have seen before The Amazing Spider-Man looks like it could actually be amazing from what is shown in this trailer.  Hopefully they don't go too dark and depressing, which is a trend with these sorts of movies at the moment, thanks to Christopher Nolan and his Batman trilogy (which was the right tone for Batman (but still possibly less so)) and keep it very humorous and fun.  They are setting up for a lot of villains (The Sinister Six) and a few different Spider-Man spin-off movies as well which will be coming in the next few years.  This trailer is amazing and I look forward to the movie even more so now.

This guy is most known as one of the producers of Kanye West's Yeezus, which I could give a shit about but shit do I love this mixtape, which is available to stream or download.  Looking forward to more mixtapes and maybe even a proper album in 2014.

The Giant Iceballs of Lake Michigan

It is so cold in most of North America now that the pounding waves have causes giant iceballs to form on some of the shores of Lake Michigan; some weight as much as 50lbs (over 20kg).

WTF Happened to Movie Posters

Here is an accurate and sad look at modern movie posters and how in the era of big budget blockbusters the studios, which spend the same amount of money promoting and advertising movies as they spend on the movies themselves (hundreds of millions of dollars in some cases).  Yet, they completely forget about the posters, often using throw together photoshop work and simple generic formulas that look like they chose the lowest bidder and create the poster, which besides the trailer and commercials, is their primary advertising piece.

Medusa

So I finished the linework on this one last night.  Next step I will bring it into Photoshop and change the lines up a bit from one side to the other and the look of the snakes so it isn't quite so symmetrical.  I am looking forward to colouring this one but first I will jump back onto the Joker and colour that first.

Another nights progress.

This is a work in progress that I have slowly been working on in Illustrator for a few days.  I was also working on the Joker today and will continue working on both tomorrow.  So more updates soon.

Joker Sketch

Joker all finished up.  I was about to give up on this one last night because I wasn't happy with the way it was turning out but I'm glad I stuck with it and figured out a solution.

Working on the Clown Prince of Crime.

I have drawn in Joker's suit and touched up the face in a few places.  Later I will add some simple background and then begin colour this on Photoshop.

A piece I started the other day but spent last night working on.  This is the first time I have drawn anything from Batman since I was about 12 years old so it was cool to try my hand at it again.  I would like to do more comic art in the future and there is still much left to do with this one.  I will finish sketching out his suit and the background then I will scan them in and colour it up using Photoshop.  More to come soon.
