The Walkmen: Heaven

One of the hardest working indie rock bands is back with their new album, Heaven, on June 5.  The preview seems to indicate that this album will focus more on instrumentation, mood, and atmosphere, then the quick 3 minute pop/rock songs of Lisbon.  The best thing about being a fan of this band is that every two years they release a fantastic album and after seeing this preview I am anticipating this release so much more.

Pitchfork interviewed the band about the new album and has some live previews of a few new tracks.

Killer Mike: R.A.P. Music

I've listened to a few Killer Mike song but mostly know him because of guest appearances on other peoples tracks.  His latest album, R.A.P. Music comes out in May and is produced in its entirity by El-P, who is definitely my favorite Hip-Hop producer.  He is the man that is responsible for the sonic palette of the greatest (in my opinion) Rap album, The Cold Vein by Cannibal Ox.  Below you can check out the first two singles from R.A.P. Music.

Moebius (Jean Giraud) 1938-2012

Yesterday Moebius passed away (May 8, 1938-March 10, 2012).  He worked as both a comic illustrator and a concept designer on movies such as Alien, Willow, and Tron.  His style has been an inspiration to many artists and filmakers alike.  This summer I plan on making more illustrations in his style, complex, intricate linework in a surrealist settings.

El-P: The Full Retard

El-P is finally returning this year with a new album and the first single "The Full Retard" is killer.  I have had this song on repeat for the last 24 hours.  The beat is huge and he shows that after 5 years of near silence he can still rip it up both behind the board and on the mic.  The album "Cancer for a Cure" comes out May 22.

Universal's New Logo

To celebrate their 100th year Universal unveiled a new logo animation.  This video shows all the logo shots that the studio has used in cronological order.  I like all the logos they have used and the fact that they have kept the same concept through the years.

The second track from her new album Master of My Made Believe and it could be that her new album sounds just like a best of, just like the first album.  I can't wait to listen to this all summer long.

Prometheus: Weyland TED Talk 2023

A fictional speech by Weyland Corporations founder Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) takes place at a futuristic vision of a TED conference, an annual technology and forum in the year 2023 serves as a viral video to promote the upcoming Alien prequel, Prometheus.  In the speech from the near future Weyland tells of how Prometheus brought fire, technology and innovation to man and his intentions to bring humanoid androids to man in the near future.  This video takes place over 60 years before the events of Prometheus (whatever the movie is actually about since it is said to not include the xenomorph alien from the original movie which Ridley Scott directed over 40 years ago) and long before Ellen Ripley and her crew encounter the alien while return home to Earth from a mining expedition for Weyland Corporation.

New Avengers Trailer

The action in this looks like it will be some of the biggest scenes to be seen in theaters.  Looks like Hulk will be unstoppable.  It looks epic and they haven't even showed the aliens that will be invading Earth.  I can't wait.
