Rocking Horsefly

Inspired by Alice's trip Through the Looking Glass the Rocking Horsefly was drawn in ink about 4 months ago and I finally got to colour it using Photoshop.  I am surprised the colour scheme that I chose in the beginning worked so well and that I didn't have to deviate from the original path in order to make it look balance while matching up with the background.

Nine Inch Nails: Tension Tour 2013 Live Concert

Nine Inch Nails are one of the best acts to see live and luckily I have been able to see them 4 times (number 5 coming up in March on their Australian leg of their world tour).  Every time their stage show  is completely different and unmatched by any other live band.  Their lighting rigs and use of screens is always changing, both overtime and over tours but also over the course of one show as the rigging is always evolving, giving each song a personalized visual estetic.  Their latest Tension Tour is their ambitious and costly tour so far and this video documents one of the last stops on the tour before they pack up and fly over to Australia to unveil a new tour once again.

Below here are two videos documenting the behind the scenes efforts and production to get a tour like this off the ground, and just how improvised and intuative the whole process is at the beginning.

Godzilla Trailer

Once again America is trying to remake Godzilla by spending a lot of money and investing in a lot of destruction that is now the weekly regular in the cinemas nowadays.  Somehow this looks like it could be different, and worthwhile.  The cinematography and atmosphere as well as a good cast could elevate this over the standard billion dollar apocalyptic blockbuster.  The sheer size of the monster, concealed reveal of the giant lizard and use to smoke and atmospherics as well as the lack of explosions in this trailer make this one of the best subtle disaster film trailers.  Even if the movie sucks, we have this trailer.

Noah Trailer

The first trailer from director Darren Aronofsky newest film and the first time he has had the money to make a big blockbuster of his career.  As one of my favorite film makers I am really looking forward to this and who knows what surprises Aronofsky has up his sleave for this ancient Biblical tale.  If nothing else it will be stunning visually given that all his movie are with factional budgets in comparison.

End the War on Drugs

Another ex-police officer (Police Captain) debunks the prohibition on drug and how it is more harmful to society to criminalize narcotics.  Every myth he easily shoots down and tells how the US is not winning the war and has never been close to combating the problem with the justice system.  Here's to hoping that Stephen Harper and his gang of idiots don't push forward with US style minimum sentences on drug offences.
