John Baizley and Baroness

Earlier this week Baroness released their third album, a double LP named Yellow and Green.  After a few listens I'm not sure if I like it as much as their older albums.  It is not nearly as heavy but it seems like an album that will grow on me over time, an album that slowly reveals itself after repeated listens.  On thing for sure is that the cover, illustrated by frontman and singer John Baizley is amoung his best.  This man is the frontman and writer for one of the most progressive metal bands currently going while his artwork has come to define modern metal and stylistically is the identity of southern metal.  I was a fan of his when I first saw his work and I actually bought a Baroness shirt long before I had listened to their music.

The Master Trailer

Here is a full trailer for Paul Thomas Anderson's (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood) The Master, which finally shows a bit about the actual story of the formation of a modern religion (ie. loosely on L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology).  From the looks of the trailer Joaquin Pheonix and Philip Seymour Hoffman could both have Oscar winning performances.

Oz: The Great and Powerful Trailer

Sam Raimi is doing what Tim Burton did with Alice in Wonderland except this looks like it has a very good chance that it might actually be good.  Alice in Wonderland was terrible.  I read all the books when I was a kid so its pretty great to see some of these characters and creature on the big screen.  the land of Oz is much larger and greater then most people know.

Nikola Tesla: The Man Who Invented the Modern World

The true father of electricity and the man responsible for ushering in the twentieth century.  Over 100 years ago he was going to provide free electricity to the whole planet as well as wireless communication when his funding was pulled by J.P. Morgan.  After this he was never able to secure any funding for any of his projects for the last 30 years of his life.  Free, clean energy has always been a threat to the the money men's pockets and control.

Below is a comic produced by The Oatmeal which tells exactly why Tesla was the greatest inventor that ever lived and why Thomas Edison was a lying hack.
