Leviathan

After slowly working on this one over the last few weeks I am finished Leviathan, the moment before destruction of a tall ship by a gigantic Sperm Whale.  For some reason this image is very light here so if you want to see the colours as I intended them to look visit my Facebook page @awolfillustrations.

Here is the original hand drawing that this one started out as. It is on A3 card stock and is a combination of graphite, coloured pencil, ink and acrylic paint. It is for sale so if anyone is interested email me with an offer.

This is an entertaining video of goats balancing and trying to one up each other.  Also below are a few images of the Tree Climbing Goats of Morocco.

Native Australian Animals

I did this collection of illustrations for a series of magnets that I produced for Christmas presents for family members.  It is a collection of native Australian animals and after a few months I am proud to be able to share these with everyone.

The Kookaburra.  This bird sits up in the trees and laughs his enormous head off at all that goes on below him with other Kookaburras.

The Koala.  This lazy marsupial sits up in gum trees all day long, lounging and eating gum leaves, which make him all the lazier.

The Magpie.  This beautiful black and white bird has a call and whistle that is just as majestical but be sure to stay away if it has babies nearby because it will swoop animals it sees as a threat to its young, even something as large as a human.

The Ringtail Possum.  This marsupial hangs out and sleeps the day away in the treetops but will climb down to the ground during the night to rummage and find food.

The Wombats.  This large and cuddly marsupial hides in the day in its underground burrow to venture out at night for food.

The Bilby.  It is known that this little marsupial visits Australian children at Easter instead of a bunny.

The Cassowary.  This gigantic bird, which seems as much dinosaur as bird, roams the jungle eating a wide variety of plants and seeds and helps the jungle by distributing the seeds in their droppings.

The Emu.  This is another large bird but unlike the Cassowary you will not find this guy in the jungle but instead more likely to find him roaming cooler climates, usually grasslands.

The Kangaroo.  Australia's most famous animal of all, these guys bounce around on their powerfully hind legs and can be found in most climates and terrains across the diverse continent.

Dolphins Using a Pufferfish as a Narcotic

It is said that dolphin, like humans, are only species to have sex for pleasure.  It looks like that is not the only thing as the BBC was able to record footage of a pod of dolphins using the toxin from a pufferfish as a narcotic and enjoying an altered state.

Medusa

So I finished the linework on this one last night.  Next step I will bring it into Photoshop and change the lines up a bit from one side to the other and the look of the snakes so it isn't quite so symmetrical.  I am looking forward to colouring this one but first I will jump back onto the Joker and colour that first.

Another nights progress.

This is a work in progress that I have slowly been working on in Illustrator for a few days.  I was also working on the Joker today and will continue working on both tomorrow.  So more updates soon.

Rocking Horsefly

Inspired by Alice's trip Through the Looking Glass the Rocking Horsefly was drawn in ink about 4 months ago and I finally got to colour it using Photoshop.  I am surprised the colour scheme that I chose in the beginning worked so well and that I didn't have to deviate from the original path in order to make it look balance while matching up with the background.

My Pet Slug

Cartoonish characters and animals seems to be the current trend for me.  Here is My Pet Slug in its black and white form.  I really love this character and his happy facial expression and the payout with the slug.  I have already coloured this one but it is for someone else, for a different project so I will post the coloured version in the future.

Here is the idea that this guy started out as.  I wanted to show how I rearranged his face and the amazing quick changes that you can make with Photoshop.  I love comparing the two and seeing that same facial features repositioned into such a different personality.

My First Fish Threadless T-Shirt Submission

Once again I have another I have another submission at Threadless.  Help me out and vote 5 and maybe this sucker will be printed.  I am not sure if the Wolf of Wall Street was accepted, although I got a lot of positive feedback, I haven't recieved any feedback from the Threadless people so that probably means its a no go.  But whatever better luck with this one.  Thanks for your help people!

P.S. If you haven't voted before you just have to register, which literally takes 1 minute.

My First Fish

This was something I drew a few months ago, but just coloured this weekend on Photoshop.  It is a mock childrens book cover.

Garret Gardener the Carrot Farmer

I figured after The Wolf of Wall Street I would draw a cute little animal.  Did this relatively quick compared to my normal speed.

Frog and the Fish

Here is something I drew by hand and then spent far to long redoing the linework on Illustrator.  Looks a lot better though.  Will colour in the future.

BEARlyn Monroe

I spent all night colouring this and my eyes are tired so I will have to look at it again in the morning but I think it looks good for now.  Pretty happy with the textures and how everything ties together.

Work in Progress: Blue Belly Deer of Keplar-22b

Here is the Blue Belly Deer of Keplar-22b throwing up gang signs.  Below is a detail shot of his face.  Tomorrow I will colour him and make a background.

Part of the Alien Deer.  I'm working on the antlers now and then it will be ready for colour.
