Shawn Clovers Photographs of San Francisco

I first saw Shawn Clover's photograph when I saw his unique series of San Francisco, in which he combined his photographs with archival photographs from the 1906 earthquake that leveled the city.  Over 3000 people were killed and fires raged for three days afterwards, destroying 80% of the city.  This archival aerial view shows the total destruction of the city as well as another image capturing the fires consuming the city.  Below are some selected photos from this series by Shawn Clover.  You can see more of these photos from this collection as well as other shots of the city and other locations across the globe on his website or flickr photostream.

Below are more photographs of San Francisco but these are tilt shift photos and a few HDR shots.

Slugoid

I drew this months ago and like a lot of other picture I promised to colour it in the near future but haven't (along with everything else) but today I sat down and coloured this one and I am so glad I did.  I have never coloured something and had it look so realistic, especially in such a short time.  I do plan to go back and colour some more old pictures because while I was going through my old pictures today I realized how many jem I have laying around with half the work already done.  If it is sunny (and not a huge windstorm like predicted) tomorrow I will work on a new watercolour and if the weatherman is right I will sit inside and work on something old once again...maybe a little Alice in Wonderland!

Animal Collective Live on Conan

Animal Collective stopped by Conan last night and performed the first single, Today's Supernatural, from their latest album Centipede Hz.  I just bought tickets to see these guys again and I can't wait for January to get here to witness the madness again.

Jim Carrey in Kick-Ass 2

The first movie was fun and funny, an overall great, entertaining film and now the sequel is off on the right foot with these spyshots of Jim Carrey coming into the series.

If you haven't seen the first film check out the trailer below.

Stream Flying Lotus: Until the Quiet Comes

Listened to this for the first time last night and on the first listen I can say that I like this better then Cosmogramma.  The album will be released October 1 on Warp Records.  Below is the intricately animated video for the first single off the album, which is not, by a long shot the best track on the album.

BEARlyn Monroe

I spent all night colouring this and my eyes are tired so I will have to look at it again in the morning but I think it looks good for now.  Pretty happy with the textures and how everything ties together.
