Spomenik: Yugoslavian monuments

Spomenik are futuristic monuments commisioned in the former Yugoslavia in the 1960s and 70s to commemorate sites where WWII battles took place and to celebrate the power of Communism.  Since communism and Yugoslavia itself fell apart in the early 1990s with the fall of the Republic these structures are now largely abondoned and forgotten.  Once tourist attractions they now a crumbling homage to both the past and future.

Thinking about Space

This video is from about 6 months ago showing a solar flare on the sun.  To understand just how enormous and amazing this video is the Earth would be about half a cm (about a quarter of an inch).  The molten materials and gases shoot off about 100 times the diameter of the Earth in about a minute before the gavity of the sun pulls most of the material from the flare back into itself.  Right now Nasa and the US media is starting and will continue to run with the story that these flares will bring about the end of the world in the next year and a half.  So you will be hearing a lot more about this and contrary to the way it is being presented this video should inspire awe not fear.

These videos show a theory that the Earth (as well as other planets) are possibly expanding.  True or not it is an interesting idea.

The shape of the Earth without the oceans.

I am currently thinking about doing an illustration that will have to do with time and space.

Mastodon: Deathbound

This song is an unreleased track from when they recorded Crack the Skye and will be released as part of this years Adult Swim Singles Program.  They have recorded a new album which is coming out in October so more new Mastodon tunes by the end of summer.

After a lot of work I am finally finished colouring this.  I kept putting off colouring the guts because they were as much work as I thought they would be.

Boardwalk Empire Season 2

I don't really like TV shows that much, especailly dramas, but this show is something I won't miss.  The first season was great and this one looks like it could be better.

Sadly, Ryan Dunn died in a car crash this morning.  This could just be another prank and hopefully it is.

Mario

I finished colouring Mario but this picture isn't completely finished yet because I still have to colour Koopa.  I changed Mario up a bit for this picture and added something to make him big.

The Last Circus

This movie looks absolutely insane.

My New Website

I finally have a proper website to show my artwork and to view my portfolio properly.  I will update the site with finished work and I will also keep this blog going.  The website will be for finished work and I will use this blog to show pieces as I work on them as well as sketches and odds and ends.  I am also changing the focus on this blog as well.  It will not only be a place for me to post work and ideas but it will now be somewhere I can collect and showcase other peoples work that I am inspired by or at very least intrigued by.  My influences are not just from art and other artist work but also from a variety of other media.  Music plays an intricate part in my process, I am always listening to music while drawing and it always informs my work.

As for the 30 minute drawings that I was promising to do everyday in order to improve my speed and sketching abilities, before jumping into projects right away.  I have been doing these but I have not posted many.  I have been drawing by hand and I do not have a cable for my scanner so I am unable to share.

I have lots of new work to share and many different projects and personal pieces that I am currently finishing or midway to completing, which I will be sharing very soon (some of these projects I will not be able to share at all).

I am excited about my new site and the shift in focus with this blog.  Thanks for following my artwork and for the support.
